Second bout of the home season! The Mob Squad vs. The Sakonnet River Roller Rats Friday, July 17, 2009 Doors open at 7PM, Bout starts at 8PM!
After their defeat last month against the Old Money Honeys, the Mob Squad will try to prey on the sneaky, squeaky and stealthy Rats. Even with a 22 point deficit against the Old Money Honeys, the Mob Squad saw vital skating by veteran Jetta von Diesel and Providence Roller Derby’s newest Mobster, Bleeding Rainbow. Despite their defeat Rhode Kill has trained some of the meanest most vile creatures ever to put on skates. Her rookies, Axe A. Dental, Hit and Run Paulene, Penny Candy Poison, Rose Creeper and Vicious Stylz proved to be integral to the Mob’s artful plan. Meanwhile, with not a win in their furry little paws since 2007, Craisy Dukes will lead the 2009 Rats to challenge the Mob. New to this group of rat ninjas are, Hellcat Lucy, Hot Apple Cry, Maul E. Crue, Shamblock, Slamarella and Crue Hella DaKill. After taking a season off to tend to knee injuries Hotsauce is finally back and skating for the Rats. The Rats have also put a trick up their sleeve, having absconded with mobster Malady D’Amour; this bout will prove to be anyones game.
Come see this exciting new pack of Rats as they take on the legendary Mob Squad. Enjoy all the Providence Roller Derby has to offer including “Off the Ground”, performing during half time and DJ’s Breezee and the Count spinning all that makes these roller derby queens go ‘round!
Doors open at 7pm and the action begins at 8pm; Click on the “Buy Tickets” button to the left to get $10 presale tickets or pay $12 for tickets at the door. As always children 5-12 years old are half price!
There are a limited number of VIP tickets available. These tickets are $30 and offer:
- Trackside seating.
- Goody bags with derby merch.
- Food/drink vouchers (redeemable for food and beverages, including beer)
- VIP waitstaff

Providence Roller Derby makes its debut in the Top 25 Derby News Network Power Rankings for June 2009! The Derby Network News writes that:
Providence scoops up the last spot on the strength of a three game winning streak that included a win over a Philly home team, a defeat of earlier #25 Harrisburg, and a solid victory over Maine in May. With at least five different teams all having a reasonable case at the margin, though, the #25 spot looks like it might be volatile for a while.
The Rhode Island Riveters are currently boast a 3-1 record for the 2009 season and will be playing in Montreal on July 25, 2009.
